Drum Majors

Patrick Byars

Patrick Byars is a trumpet concentration, Music Education major from North Richland Hills, Texas. As a third year member of the Green Brigade, Byars serves as a Drum Major and trumpet player who plans to be a band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include hiking, camping, weightlifting, and playing various sports.  Byars hopes to influence the band in a positive way by being a positive and uplifting leader.

Katherine Flores

Katherine Flores is a Sophomore Biology major from McAllen, Texas. As a second-year member of the Green Brigade, Flores serves as a Drum Major and Flute player who plans to pursue Veterinary Medicine after graduation. Hobbies and interest include reading, conducting, drum corps, and Netflix & chilling with her dog, Milo.  Flores hopes to influence the band in a positive way by establishing a productive and enjoyable environment for members of the Green Brigade while getting to know new 2017 members. 

Hunter Smith

Hunter Smith is a Sophomore, Music Education major from Austin, Texas. As a Second-year member of the Green Brigade, Smith serves as a Drum Major and Clarinet player who plans to be a High School Band Director after graduation. Hobbies and interests include video games, working out, and Drum Corps.  Smith hopes to influence the band in a positive way by ensuring communication is consistent throughout the program.

 

Student Assistant for Marketing and Student Engagement

Taylor Gaskins

Taylor Gaskins is a junior Music Education major from Austin, Texas. As a third-year member of the Green Brigade, Gaskins serves as the Student Assistant for Social Media and Student Engagement and as a Field Technician. Gaskins, a clarinetist, plans to teach either high school band after graduation. When not in a practice room or in rehearsal, Gaskins enjoys spending time with her Mu Phi Epsilon phamily, writing, attempting to play ukulele, and listening to indie singer-songwriters. Gaskins hopes to influence the band in a positive way through her enthusiasm for all things music and representing the ensemble well on social media.

Field Instructors

Adrien Alkazzaz

Adrien Alkazzaz is a junior music education and tuba performance major from Keller, TX. As a 3rd year member of the Green Brigade, Alkazzaz serves as a field instructor who plans to be a college professor and professional musician after graduation. Hobbies and interest include eating, sleeping and listening to music of all sorts. Alkazzaz hopes to influence the band in a positive way by creating lifelong friendships and helping students discover new talents within themselves. 

 

Ben Ayers

Ben Ayers is a Sophomore, Music Education major from Arlington, Texas. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Ayers serves as a Field Tech and French Horn player who plans to be a band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include playing music, watching sports and Netflix, and absolutely dominating at MLB The Show. Ayers hopes to influence the band in a positive way by helping clean up the show to create an enjoyable performance for the audience while keeping it enjoyable to come out and practice for the members.

Aiden Beimer

Aidan Beimer is Music Education major from Weatherford, Texas. As a third year member of Green Brigade, Beimer serves as a Field Instructor and French Horn player who plans to be a band director after graduation. Hobbies and interests include hiking, mountain biking and visual instruction at schools in the DFW area. Beimer hopes to influence the band in a positive way by creating a welcoming environment. 

 

Isabelle Bouhadana

Isabelle Bouhadana is a junior music education major from San Antonio, TX. As a third-year member of the Green Brigade, Bouhadana serves as a field tech and flute player who plans to teach anything and everything music related after graduation. Her hobbies include reading, taking care of horses, and blowing warm air through a metal pole. Bouhadana hopes to influence the band in a positive way through her dedication to the Green Brigade and intense passion for all things band.

Jordan Doss

Jordan Doss is a Third-Year Music Education Major from Midlothian, Texas! As a third year member of the Green Brigade, Doss serves as a Field Tech and French Hornist/flutist/vocalist who plans to teach band after graduation and eventually open his own performing arts school. His hobbies include yoga, crafting, and petting any dog he ever sees (especially Basset Hounds). Doss hopes to influence the band in a positive way through optimism and a belief that we can achieve whatever we believe we can achieve!

Ben Miner

Benjamin R. Miner is a senior, music education major from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. As a third year member of the Green Brigade, Miner serves as a field technician and trumpet player who plans to pursue a masters in orchestral conducting after graduation. His hobbies include attending local orchestra concerts, swimming, and playing his recorders. Miner hopes to influence the band in a positive way through zealous teaching, encouraging leadership, and having a positive attitude.

 

Max Mollenkamp

Max Mollenkamp is a sophomore music education major from Jefferson City, Missouri. As a second-year member of the Green Brigade, Mollenkamp serves as a field instructor and trombone player who plans to teach band after graduation. He also plans to eventually start his own drum corps. His hobbies include swing dancing, studying Spanish, and playing with dogs. Mollenkamp hopes to influence the band in a positive way by keeping a smile on his face and working hard at every rehearsal. 

Teylor Patak

Teylor Patak is a Sophomore, Music Education/Performance major from Ft. Worth, Tx. As a 3rd year member of the Green Brigade, Patak serves as a Field Tech and Saxophone player who plans to be a performer in professional ensembles after graduation. Hobbies and interest include art, reading and composing music. Patak hopes to influence the band in a positive way by serving as a trustworthy person that people feel they can learn from as well as come to with any questions or concerns. She hopes to do something worth remembering. 

Daniel Regalado

Daniel Regalado is a sophomore, Music Education major from Severna Park, Maryland. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Regalado serves as a field tech and french horn/mellophone player who plans after graduation to “score a victory for humanity” but doesn’t know yet what path that will lead him down. Hobbies and interest include photography, composing music, and exploring the unknown. Regalado hopes to influence the band in a positive way by leaving a smile on the face of everyone he comes into contact with. 

Kendall Stevenson

Kendall Stevenson is a transfer, music education major from Flower Mound, TX. As a third year member of the Green Brigade, Stevenson serves as the head field technician and flute player who plans to be a middle school or high school band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include teaching drum corps, cooking, planting, and being outside. Stevenson hopes to influence the band in a positive way by providing new visual exercises and teaching philosophies to help build new teachers.

Tyler Atkins

Tyler Atkins is a Junior, Music Education major from Houston, Tx. As a 3rd of the Green Brigade, Atkins serves as a Flute Section Leader and Saxophone player who plans to be a Band and an Orchestra teacher and a professional Conductor after graduation. Hobbies and interest include playing video games and working with animals. Atkins hopes to influence the band in a positive way by contributing to the tenacious Green Brigade spirit and being a positive role model.

Christina Buttram

Christina Buttram is a senior, mechanical engineering technology major from Denton, Texas. As a fourth year member of the Green Brigade, Buttram serves as a uniform manager and clarinet section leader who plans to be a research and design engineer after graduation. Hobbies and interest include running and writing. Buttram hopes to influence the band in a positive way by helping to make members’ experience in the Green Brigade a positive one.

Ian Calhoun

Ian Calhoun is a sophomore Music Education major from Red Wing, Minnesota. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Calhoun serves as a section leader and baritone player who plans to be either a professional bass trombonist or a music teacher after graduation. Calhoun is also a member of the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps where he marches baritone. His hobbies include solving Rubik’s cubes, listening to any and all music, performing, and telling awful jokes.  Calhoun hopes to influence the band in a positive way by being a friend to everybody while also pushing them to be their very best. 

Marcus Cardenas

Marcus Cardenas is a sophomore music education major from Galveston, Texas. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Cardenas serves as a section leader and trumpet player who plans to teach high school band after graduation. His hobbies include watching movies, running, and drum corps. Cardenas hopes to influence the band in a positive way through having fun while getting work done and always being there for his colleagues.

 

Nick England

Nick England is a sophomore music education major from Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, England serves as a section leader and clarinet player who plans to teach high school band after graduation. His hobbies include playing various Legend of Zelda games and socializing in the music commons. England hopes to influence the band in a positive way through undying enthusiasm and dedication to the program.

Emily Fredrickson

Emily Frederickson is a Sophomore, Music Education major from Austin, Texas. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Frederickson serves as a Section Leader and French Horn player who plans to be a high school band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include being an active member of Box7 Ministries,creative planning, and her goldfish aquarium.  Frederickson hopes to influence the band in a positive way bybringing her drum corps experience to the table. 

Christopher Garcia

Christopher Garcia is a Junior, Music Education Major from Houston, Texas. As a 3rd year member of the Green Brigade, Garcia serves as a Saxophone Section Leader and a Clarinet player who plans to be a high school band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include video games and football.  Garcia hopes to influence the band in a positive way by encouraging band members to have great interactions with everyone to increase the overall enjoyment that the Green Brigade can provide. 

Bryce Gardner

Bryce Gardner is a Freshman, Music Education major from Plano, Texas. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Gardner serves as a snare line section leader and Percussionist who plans to be a Percussion Instructor and Battery arranger after graduation. Hobbies and interests include treasure hunting, Dr Pepper collecting, and clean beats. Gardner hopes to influence the band in a positive way by motivating members of the battery to put forth their best efforts towards achieving a great ensemble sound, and creating a solid backbone for the rest of the band. 

 

PJ Harrison

PJ Harrison is a junior, Criminal Justice Major from Grapevine, Texas. As a third year member of the Green Brigade, Harrison serves as a Baritone Section Leader and Baritone player who plans to be a Youth Probation Officer after graduation. His hobbies and interest include hanging out with friends, working out, and watching football.  Harrison hopes to influence the band in a positive way by fostering a family atmosphere where all members of the Baritone section and the Green Brigade as a whole feel at home and welcome. 

Jordan Haynes

Jordan Haynes is a Sophomore, Music Education major from Richmond, Texas. As a 3rd year member of the Green Brigade, Haynes serves as the  sousaphone section leader and Tuba player who plans to be a high school band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include watching tv, playing video games, and hanging out with friends.  Haynes hopes to influence the band in a positive way by having fun while getting work done. 

Cierra Higgins

Ciera Higgins is a Sophomore, Music Education major from Chicago, Illinois. As a third year of the Green Brigade, Higgins serves as a Section Leader and marimba player who plans to be a middle school band director/percussion instructor after graduation. Hobbies and interests include reading, watching Netflix, and petting animals. Higgins hopes to influence the band in a positive way by helping create a comfortable and productive environment for the ensemble to improve. 

Ben Koch

Ben Koch is a Music Education major from Leander, Texas. As a 2nd year member of the Green Brigade, koch serves as a section leader and bass drummer who plans to be a band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include disc golf, running, and clean beats. He hopes to influence the band in a positive way by providing mean green hype and clean unisons.

 

Ben Lambert

Ben Lambert is a Sophomore, Music Education major from The Woodlands, TX. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Lambert serves as a Section Leader and flute player who plans to be a middle/high school band director after graduation. His hobbies and interests include band, band, and more band.  Lambert hopes to influence the band in a positive way by helping to create a safe, positive learning environment that promotes only the highest level of achievement among all members.

 

 

Luis Lopez

Luis Lopez is a junior, music education major from Austin, Texas. As third year member of the UNT Green Brigade, Lopez serves as a Trumpet Section Leader and Trumpet player who plans to be a High School Band Director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include going on runs, paying video games, drawing, and marching DCI over the summer. Lopez hopes to influence the band in a positive way by creating a relaxed focused environment within the band, where members feel welcome and can create life long memories. 

Peter Mai

Peter Mai is a Sophomore, Music Education and Clarinet Performance major from The Colony, Texas. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Mai serves as a Section Leader and Clarinet player who plans to be a band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include ping pong, watching Netflix, and solving Rubix Cubes. Mai hopes to influence the band in a positive way by creating a fun environment within the band. 

Corina Munoz

Corina Munoz is a Junior, Music Education major from Ennis, Texas. As a third-year member of the Green Brigade, Munoz serves as a Mellophone Section Leader and Mellophone player who plans to be a Junior High Band Director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include sketching, singing, and traveling.  Munoz hopes to influence the band in a positive way by bringing a positive and fun spirit. 

Alan Olmos

Alan Olmos is a Junior, Music Education major from San Antonio, Texas. As a 3rd year member of the Green Brigade, Olmos serves as a section leader and alto saxophone player who plans to be band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include traveling, playing chess and listening to Disney music. Olmos hopes to influence the band in a positive way by serving as a constructive guide and role model. 

Wesley Penny

Wesley Penny is a junior, music education major from San Antonio, Texas. As a third year of the Green Brigade, Penny serves as a trumpet section leader and trumpet player who plans to be a band director after graduation. Hobbies and interests include running, hiking, exploring, video games, basketball (Go Spurs Go), and playing with his dog Riley. Penny hopes to influence the band in a positive way by leading by example and creating a fun/hardworking environment so members can create lifelong memories.

Jason Perez

Jason Perez is a Senior Music Education major from Waco, Texas. As a third year member of the Green Brigade, Perez serves a Section Leader and Mellophone player who plans to be a High School band director after graduation. Hobbies and interests include listening to music, playing video games, watching Steven Universe and DCI, swing dancing, and playing soccer. Perez hopes to influence the band in a positive way by establishing a family friendly zone and giving positive reinforcement or help to anyone in need. 

Davis Ponjuan

Davis Ponjuan is a Sophomore Music Education and Clarinet performance major from Gainesville, Florida. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Ponjuan serves as a Clarinet Section Leader and Clarinet Player who plans to be a music educator and pursue a masters in conducting after graduation. Hobbies and interests include, Netflix, hanging out with friends, studying music scores, conducting, relaxing in his hammock, and recreational swimming. Ponjuan hopes to influence the band in a positive way by fostering an atmosphere that encourages hard work while still being fun and enjoyable.

Daniel Shinohara

Daniel Shinohara is a junior, Music Education major from Frisco, Texas. As a third year member of the Green Brigade, Shinohara serves as the Quadline and Drumline section leader and percussionist who plans to be a percussion director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include traveling, hanging out with friends, and playing basketball. Shinohara hopes to influence the band in a positive way by promoting and environment where everybody feels welcome regardless of their year or experience level. 

Trevor Turner

Trevor Turner is a freshman, Music Education major from Mesquite, Texas. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Turner serves as a Section Leader and Trumpet player who plans to be a high school band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include composition, rock climbing, and drum corps.  Turner hopes to influence the band in a positive way by improving relationships built in and between sections. 

Ming Wang

Ming-Zhi Wang is a Junior Music Education major- born in San Diego, California, but currently resides in McKinney, Texas. As a third year member of the Green Brigade, Mr. Wang serves as a Tenor Sax Section Leader and a behind-the-scenes clarinet player who plans to be a High School Band Director after graduation. Hobbies and interests include video games, eating, sleeping, and sometimes eating while sleeping. Wow. Sometimes he can even miraculously do all three activities at once.  Mr. Wang hopes to influence the band in a positive way by creating a fun atmosphere and a good collegiate marching band experience to all.

Coordinators

Ben Armeni

Ben Armeni is a Sophomore Music Education major from Flowery Branch, GA. As a 3rd year member of the Green Brigade, Ben serves as a Percussion Coordinator and Front Ensemble member who plans to go to graduate school after graduation and study percussion performance or education. Hobbies and interest include: incessantly banging on things like they are drums, reading, and procrastinating. Ben hopes to influence the band in a positive way by helping create an environment where students are comfortable learning and improving, regardless of skill level. 

Andrew Burris

Andrew Burris is a sophomore, music major from Round Rock, Texas. As a second year of the Green Brigade, Burris serves as a Sousaphone Coordinator and Tuba player who plans to be a band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include practicing and watching Netflix.  Burris hopes to influence the band in a positive way by being a constant role model.

Armand Castillo

Armando Castillo is a Saxophone, Music Education major from Brownsville, TX. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Castillo serves as a section coordinator and saxophone player who plans to be a high school music educator after graduation. Hobbies and interest include hiking, reading, performing and exploring. Castillo hopes to influence the band in a positive way by keeping an energetic and optimistic outlook. 

Melinda Coleman

Melinda Coleman is a sophomore music education major from Palatine, Illinois. As a second-year member of the Green Brigade, Coleman serves as a coordinator and trumpet player who plans to be a high school band director after graduation. Hobbies and interests include reading fantasy/sci-fi and arranging music.  Coleman hopes to influence the band in a positive way by bringing boundless energy and positivity to every rehearsal. 

Melanie Crockett

Melanie Crockett is a Sophomore, History major from Mansfield, Texas. As a second year of the Green Brigade, Crockett serves as a Trumpet Coordinator and Trumpet player who plans to be a history teacher after graduation. Hobbies and interest include country dancing, softball and reading.  Crockett hopes to influence the band in a positive way by encouraging a positive, fun attitude on and off the field.

Geritt Davenport
Caralyn Dawson

Caralyn Dawson is a Junior Ecology major from Alba, Texas. As a third year member of GB, Dawson serves as a section coordinator and clarinet player who plans to be a wildlife biologist after graduation. Her hobbies and interests include reading, knitting, and spending time outdoors. Dawson hopes to influence the band in a positive way by promoting friendship and unity. 

 

Cory Fey

Cory Fey is a Junior, Music Education major from San Antonio, Texas. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Fey serves as a Baritone Coordinator and Clarinet player who plans to be a Band Director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include reading, practicing, and the great outdoors.  Fey hopes to influence the band in a positive way by upholding the marching standards of the green brigade.

 

Mallory Frenza

Mallory Frenza is a sophomore music education major from Spring, TX. As a second-year member of the Green Brigade, Frenza serves as a clarinet coordinator and clarinet player who plans to be a band director after graduation. Hobbies and interests include watercolor painting and photography. Frenza hopes to influence the band in a positive way by taking photos for the Green Brigade and contributing to an atmosphere of tradition and excellence.

Joshua Garrett

Joshua Garrett is a Sophomore, Computer Science major from San Antonio, Texas. As a 2nd year member of the Green Brigade, Garrett serves as a Sax Coordinator and Tenor Saxophone player who plans to be an independent game developer after graduation. Hobbies and interest include playing video games and writing music.  Garrett hopes to influence the band in a positive way by performing with high energy and keeping a postive attitude.

 

Jay Lopez

Jay Lopez is a sophomore Music Education major from Laredo, Texas. As a second year member of Green Brigade, Lopez serves as baritone section coordinator and bassoon player who plans to teach music to children globally who would usually not have the resources to do so. Hobbies and interest include being an active member of Box7 Ministries, Drum Corps, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, playing bassoon, and annoying his roommates. Lopez hopes to influence the band in a positive way by making Green Brigade an environment for personal growth and self-exploration. 

Tyler Primeaux

Tyler Primeaux is a Freshman, Music Education major from The Colony, Texas. As a Second year member of the Green Brigade, Primeaux serves as a Percussion coordinator and Percussionist who plans to be a Percussion director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include disc golfing and hanging out with friends. Primeaux hopes to influence the band in a positive way by helping to create a friendly atmosphere to new and returning members. 

 

Phillip Roth

Philip Roth is a freshman, Music Education major from Austin, Texas. As a Second year member of the Green Brigade, Roth serves as a Clarinet Section Coordinator and Clarinet player who plans to be a Graduate Student after graduation. Hobbies and interest include Video games, hip hop, and volunteer work. Roth hopes to influence the band in a positive way by bringing a positive attitude to rehearsals, and holding each player to a high musical and visual standard. 

 

Nicholas Smith

Nicolas Smith is a Junior, Music Education major from Mansfield, Texas. As a 3rd year of the Green Brigade, Smith serves as a Section coordinator and Trumpet and Piano player who plans to be a Band director and composer after graduation. Hobbies and interest include Video games (anything Nintendo), writing music, and baseball.  Smith hopes to influence the band in a positive way by optimistic and positive, creating a great atmosphere. 

Emily Soriano

Emily Soriano is a sophomore music education major from Lampasas, TX. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Soriano serves as a sousaphone coordinator and tuba player who plans to be a band director after graduation. Her hobbies and interests include the marching arts, petting cats, and playing bass. Soriano hopes to influence the band in a positive way by being a good example and role model for others through her positive attitude and enthusiasm for the program. 

 

Nicholas Talbot

Nicholas Talbot is a Sophomore , Music Education major from Frisco, Texas. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Talbot serves as a coordinator and trumpet player who plans to be a band director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include practicing trumpet and going to concerts.  Talbot hopes to influence the band in a positive way by encouraging a positive learning environment for everyone.

Alyssa Tranbarger

Alyssa Tranbarger is a Sophomore, Music Education major from San Antonio, Texas. As a second year member of the Green Brigade, Tranbarger serves as a Saxophone Coordinator and Alto Saxophone player who plans to be a Band Director after graduation. Hobbies and interest include drawing, painting, and running.  Tranbarger hopes to influence the band in a positive way by encouraging every member to constantly improve in their performance, and to uphold the high morale of Green Brigade in every aspect through her leadership.
