The University of North Texas “Green Brigade Experience” (a.k.a “Band Day”) is an annual event that invites high school band students to be VIP guests of the Green Brigade for a day! The 2020 “GBX” will be on Saturday, September 5th at the UNT home game against Houston Baptist University.
Students participate in all the activities of a UNT Mean Green home football game including morning rehearsal, meet-and-greet time with our members, pregame festivities, cheering at the game, and a thrilling mass-band halftime performance. Students get the feeling of what it is like to be in a university marching band and are mentored by our very own Green Brigade members.
There is no cost to participate in this event. All students, directors, staff, and one chaperone per ten students get into the game for free!
Registration is fast and easy. Directors, please simply indicate your interest in participating at the "Registration" link on the left by July 1. You do not have to give us specifics now: we will follow up with you in August to acquire information and provide materials.
We recognize that high school programs are very busy at the beginning of the fall. The halftime performance repertoire will consist of fresh arrangements of contemporary pop tunes, suitable to take back to your own programs as stands tunes. These are not required to be memorized. We aim to make this as enjoyable and low-pressured as possible.
Basic logistical information about the event can be found on the accompanying links to the left. Specific information will be distributed toward the end of summer, such as PDFs or links to music, mass-band field setup, parking information, we'll solicit from you the final number of tickets you'll need, etc.
